The guide ‘Looking After Someone’ is available to download from the website with information on financial and practical support available for carers. The helpline team offers practical information about mental health, including the services and support available to people of all ages in Cumbria. The Team can also provide information on types of mental health problems, medication and treatment, self-help, helplines and online support. Callers can talk through concerns about their own or someone else’s mental health. Staff will listen and help callers explore options or be a listening ear in times of distress.

A residential substance misuse treatment / rehabilitation programme. This six week programme includes group, family, complementary, creative and eco therapies.

Free and confidential helpline providing homelessness advice and support to anyone in England aged 16-25. The Team can also offer advice to people worried about a young person they know. The Centrepoint Helpline can help with issues including sofa surfing, options for when the Council cannot provide support, pregnant women and those with children, non-UK citizens and fleeing violence. Free confidential Advice Line service provides support and information for people living with lung disease, heart disease and stroke. In addition we give advice to families, carers, and health and social care professionals across Scotland. Specialist Advice Line nurses provide a supportive listening ear, together with health advice based on Scottish and UK clinical guidelines. Further support includes free chest, heart and stroke booklets and factsheets, and other related health information, which can be sent via email or post.

Free confidential bereavement support by telephone, video or instant messenger, wherever you live in the UK. Further support includes support for individuals, couples, children, young people and families, facilitated groups for bereaved families where children aged 4-12 and their adult carers can meet others and explore their feelings through creative activities, facilitated groups for those between the ages of 11 and 25 to meet for social activities and to work on creative projects and facilitated groups for bereaved parents and carers to meet in a supportive environment.

Helpline for anyone affected by the death of a child of any age, under any circumstances, however long ago. Whilst most calls are from parents, enquiries from family, friends, teachers, emergency services staff and healthcare professionals also welcome. Staffed by trained volunteers, all of whom are bereaved parents. Volunteers supported by professional teams within Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, NHS Trust, and the Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.

Telephone and email support line available to anyone concerned about their child’s growth or if they have a diagnosed growth condition. For some conditions, other specialised support organisations exist. Child Growth Foundation has good relationships and contacts with these organisations and can advise on other sources of support and information.

Parentline NI is Northern Ireland’s free, confidential helpline for parents, carers and family members funded by the Health and Social Care Board and operated by Children in Northern Ireland. Helpline manned by a team of experienced staff passionate about listening to and supporting parents and carers today. Parentline NI offers every caller support, advice, guidance and/or ear to listen, whatever the circumstances. Callers to the helpline can avail of a one-off support call or will be offered follow up review calls to meet the needs of each parent/carer. Calls to 0808 80 numbers are free from landlines and mobiles in the UK and do not appear on itemised billing.

The Advice and Support service is free and confidential and provides a source of help and support if children and young people or those who care for them feel that a child has been been treated unfairly. Contact can also be made by text. Text 80 800 and start message with COM. The Team can either point callers in the right direction to another organisation or in other circumstances can look at individual complaints. The laws which set up the Children's Commissioner for Wales' office means advice and support can only be provided to a child or young person up to the age of 18, or 25 in certain circumstances, usually living in Wales or who is placed in England by a Welsh local authority or has a complaint or wants to make representation to a service provider (such as a registered child minder) or certain organisations (including any county council or health authority in Wales).
