Self Injury Support
Support for people affected by self harm
Confidential and anonymous helpline and text services offering emotional support to anyone affected by self-injury, including friends and family of those who self-injure.
Helpline calls are not recorded and no personal information is received. The helpline number will not appear on telephone bills and is free to call from mobiles and landlines. The text service is also anonymous, with phone numbers not traceable. Text messages will be responded to during opening times and SIS aims to respond promptly within these periods.
On Thursday nights both helpline and text services are staffed by female-identifying volunteers only, as some people who contact SIS feel most comfortable sharing with women. However, both services are open to people of all genders every time they are open.
Self Injury Support can also provide information and publications about self-injury and offer talks and self-injury training courses to professionals. The charity maintains a UK-wide database of mental health support groups and organisations on the website, along with self-help resources and useful information for people impacted by self harm.
