Description of service

Confidential safeguarding helpline providing 24 hour support, information and advice to workers, leaders, trustees, parents, carers, professionals and survivors. The helpline team can provide advice and support on a wide range of safeguarding standards, including policy and practice guidance, safer recruitment, responding to and managing allegations of abuse, management of those who may pose a risk (for example offenders) in faith settings and elsewhere and personal help with concerns about non-recent abuse or re-offending. The Helpline is staffed within office hours by Helpline Practitioners. If the call is more complex or a more serious safeguarding matter, the call is passed to Safeguarding Advisers who work on a rota. They are professionals (including social workers, ex-police officers and counsellors) who have experience in the field of safeguarding. Call answered directly if outside office hours.
